Programming

The programming grids are available for: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

The schedule is in constant flux. The events like to migrate to new habitats at the slightest whim. Please keep this in mind and don't feed the panels.

If you wish to download the convention schedule for your Palm-based PDA, please grab the file here. Then you may unzip the file and transfer it's contents to your PDA.

Programming Hilights

The schedule is taking shape. There are some wonderful items planned. Here are a few hilights.

Writers Workshop - Rob Chilson is hosting a writer's workshop this year on Saturday afternoon. If you wish to participate, you will need to:

  1. Send a 5000-7500 word manuscript by April 1, 2004 deadline to DemiCon Writer's Workshop, 1320 17th St., West Des Moines, IA 50265-2315. Incomplete manuscripts (parts of novels) are acceptable.
  2. Manuscripts should be in standard MS format: double-spaced, one side of sheet only, author's name & title on first page, author's name & page number in header on each succeeding page and 10 or 12 pitch type of some easily-read typeface.
  3. People that participate will then receive a package of the manuscripts two weeks before the convention. The participants will read, ponder and type up a critique of the manuscripts received. This critique will be given to the manuscript writer.
  4. Bring the critiques that you have completed to the workshop and be prepared for an amazing time of learning. This is an opportunity that beginners to professional writers just can't miss. The workshop will take place Saturday afternoon of the convention.

Life Size Game - Saturday at 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. there will be a life size game played in the Mezzanine. People will become the playing pieces as they try to out manuver the other players. We think that Mr. Lucky will be fearing for his life. All ages can come and join in this game. Expect 3 to 4 games.

Filk Friday - A night of filking at its finest. Start with Instant Filk (favorite by all), continue with Revenge of the Quartermaster, then stay and filk until the suns up. Filking will also occur on Saturday after TICC After Dark

Drum Jams and Folk circles - DemiCon will have both a drum jam and a folk circle. Be sure to bring your instruments. More information available on our music page.

Anime Cel Workshop - If you ever wanted to paint an Anime Cel, here is your chance. This is a limited participant workshop so sign up fast and email programming@demicon.org. We ask that if children join in the fun that their parents do so as their partner and controller of the paint. So sign up, bring a steady hand, a paint shirt and join us.

Revenge of the Quartermaster Filk Costume Contest - Put on your cape and tights and join the League of Unextraordinary Gentlemen as they attempt the superhuman (?) feat of singing The Quartermaster's Hall for at least three hours! Stop in and help out the L.U.G.s break a new record. Prizes for the best (or worst) costume. Prizes for creative lyrics and rhymes. You don't need to know the song prior to this event. Trust me, you'll know it in a couple of minutes.

Start your morning off right! - Join members of DMSFS as they wake you with wonderful exercises each day.

  • Saturday Morning - Join Sallie Abba in the swimming pool for water Aerobics at 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wake your body and mind with this gentle on your joints exercise form.
  • Wait, water is not for you? Walk the Skywalks with Rachelle Hrubetz and Les Roth at 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Learn a little bit about Des Moines. The tales told may be true or false. You get to decide. Exercising fun!
  • Sunday Morning - You've party hard and just want to wake up, darn it! Here is a great way to stretch out those tired muscles. Join Les Roth for Yoga at 10 a.m. Sunday Morning. Make it through the rest of the day with a feeling of well-being.

More hilights to follow.
