Volunteers

The life blood of any convention are the throngs of attendees volunteering to help everything run smoothy. DemiCon is no different. There are many different activities for which you may volunteer. To make the process easier on you, you may sign up for different volunteer activites online. This will reserve you a spot on the registration list for a particular activity. If you have any questions about what certain activites are, please refer to the list below.

Art Show Data Entry
Art Show Setup
Art Show Assistant
The art show has three primary duties. A data entry person helps get the information about each piece of art into the database used to track sales. A setup person helps to construct the display racks and hang pieces. They also help to take everything apart once it is all over. Lastly the art show is always in need of people to monitor the flux of people entering the room. The duties of an art show assitant is to prevent food, drinks, and other personal items from being carried in. Additionally, you would answer questions, assist in bidding, and handle sales from the print shop.
Registration
Registration - DemiCon Table
The registration table needs a lot of people at the start of the convention, and throughout the day on Saturday. The duties of a registration volunteer are to look up registrations for pre-registered attendees and handle the registration of new people. The registration table also serves as a contact point for convention goers, so an additional duty is to answer questions or use the radios to find someone who can help. Also, you may volunteer to help run the demiCon table.

Consuite Setup
Consuite Maintenance
Consuite Assistant

The consute needs volunteers to help set it up and tear it down. Also, there is a regular cleaning shift on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Additionally, the consuite needs assistants so that the people running the consuite can occasionally get out the room. The duties involved are to keep snack bowls full, keep the tables clean, and to generally keep things from getting out of hand. Since alcohol is available in the consuite, volunteer bartenders must be over 21.
Masquerade The Masquerade needs people to help the enterants. Many costumes have limited visibilty and manuvering in the dark of backstage is difficult. A masquerade volunteer needs to guide the costumed people on and off stage, as well as assisting with the process of getting dressed.
Huxters The Huxters' room needs to have someone "in charge" at all times. The duties of a huxters' room volunteer consist of fetching food or drink for the huxters and waiting around for someone to ask you something. Then you radio someone else, and they take care of it. Come on, it's easy!
Panel Panels don't run themselves. Well, that perpetual motion panel back in '93 did, but we all know how that turned out. If you would like to volunteer to be on a panel, please sign up for it, as well as giving us a title and description. If it will blend well with our programming, our programming people will contact you.
General If you want to volunteer, but there is nothing specific you wish to do, sign up under general. We'll work you into the volunteer schedule. It'll be like a grab bag surprise. Everyone loves surprised, right?
