Out of Phase, the DMSFS Kubb team started by the legendary pirate hero Bo3b, played in the Des Moines Kubb Fall Klassic on September 24, 2016. Alas, the team was as successful in competition as a bee collecting honey in a yard full of gymnosperm shade.
The team’s first round opponents were the kubb national champions. The Phrase, armed with a thesaurus and DMSFS bookmark quote, tried to help. The guarding of the king from a quickly thrown baton was as meaningless as a snail on a NASCAR race track.
Later, an attempt was made to protect a base line kubb from another opponents’ attack. That action was as useless as a cat trying to catch a speck of dust in a sunlit room.
We did garner interest in the upcoming science fiction convention. We hope to see our fellow kubb players and you at DemiCon 28 where Heroes Shall Rise.
The Kubb Fall Klassic was organized by the Des Moines Kubb Club and benefited the Bidwell Riverside Food and Clothing Pantry.
